It was the 1981, when Essie Weingarten boarded a plane for Las Vegas carrying 10 cartons weighing 64 pounds each full of  nail polishes . Today Essie , a business born out of an organic, long-lasting passion is the best-known nail polish brand in America and in the world and it is part of the L’Oreal Group.

There are 3 career lessons that we can learn from the story of Essie Weingarten , the woman who founded the nail polishes empire .

Nothing is easy at the beginning

If you may think that all the successful people get their fame in a night (or in a year) you’re wrong . Every businesses, every jobs requires patience , hard work and time . Weingarten started out showing her products around a city ,little by little she started making headway, and over time, Essie not only landed in retail shops but also on the red carpet. So be patience because everything take time to arrive but if you work hard it will pay off .

Move where your customers are

Essie moved to Las Vegas because she knew that  people would have surely bought her beauty products more in Vegan than any other city .

“If I go to Las Vegas, I have more women with disposable income than anywhere else. I have my dealers, my dancers, my cocktail waitresses, my showgirls. And they all had to be well groomed, well dressed and they were in front of the public at the time. So if I could get them to wear it and talk about it, it would spread like wildfire” she said in an interview with Entrepreneur

Show the world what you can do

If you want to make people know that you’re worth it you have to show them . Essie was sure that her products were amazing so she went to all of the beauty salons in fancy casino-hotels and left samples of her nail colors. Within 10 days, every single one had called to place an order. This is really brilliant , if you have created a product try to bring it to selected stores. The sales will show the results for you. .
