Starting a fashion blog is easy for everyone today, you just need a domain and to take some photos of your outfits but trying to grow your followers and to make money from it it’s not so easy . There are plenty of fashion bloggers out there today , but just few of them can make a living blogging, collaborate with big designers and get free stuff .

Becoming a successful fashion blogger is the dream of lots of girls, so let’s hear what some of the best fashion bloggers advice to everyone who want to pursue this career .

1)

Shea Marie the blogger behind Peace Love Shea is one of the top fashion blogger , she collaborates with top fashion brands and has almost 1m followers on Instagram. Her main advices ? Remind that money will come later , find something that is not out there to differentiate yourself and affiliate can be your main source of income .

Don’t see your blog as an end goal.

“My main advice is don’t make [blogging] your end goal. Go into it as something that can benefit what you want to do—if you want to be a stylist or a designer, for example. Have your blog be a backup for what you love, so that way when you are out there looking for internships and jobs, you can have it on your resume.  ”

Your skill has to go way beyond your outfit posts.

“More than just the outfits and the style, you kind of have to have the whole lifestyle. When I’m interested in someone’s whole life, their goals, where they’re going, what they’re doing, what they want to do—that’s how you know they’re good. I follow a lot of people who don’t have massive Instagram followings, but they have a really cool job in the fashion world. I think it’s much more about lifestyle—what the person does. Style is important, but there are a ton of people with good style, so there has to be something more: a personal connection and interest in their life, their career paths, their dreams and inspirations. Young entrepreneurial women are what inspire and drive me to the next thing.”

“I know a lot of girls who don’t have super-large followings, but they make a lot of money through affiliate partnerships, which is where you earn money off each time you link to shopping. You can definitely capitalize on that. ”

Collaborating with brands is something that usually happens a bit later.

“Working on collaborations and creating beautiful visual content and editorial stories with designers and brands that I love is one of the best parts of my job. It’s about building connections with companies you admire and working your way up to the point where they trust you and appreciate your creativity and aesthetic. Of course having a following is important, but it’s about much more than that as well.”

Use your Instagram to get more visitors to your site.

“It’s imperative, it’s so important. There are girls that have a huge Instagram following, for whatever reason they have millions of followers, and then they started their blogs. Their blogs are getting popular based on their Instagram following. It doesn’t really happen the other way around anymore.”

2)

Zanita  is another big fashion blogger and if you’re looking for tips on how to make it as a fashion blogger, there’s no better resource than successful bloggers like her. In a blog post she explained how to start a successful fashion blog .

Good pictures are important

“I’m sorry to say, if you’re going to be a good Fashion Blogger and create original photo content, getting your photo skills up is important. Getting to know how to utilise your urban surroundings is important – the best way to do this is to look at fashion editorials and blogger pictures and find what you like.”

Be consistent

“If you want your blog to grow in popularity, one thing that you can trust is that posting regularly is going to help you significantly. It’s just science guys.”

No posts is better than a bad blog post

Perhaps counter to my previous point – but don’t throw up any old thing just for the sake of it, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Just do you best – and this rule also applies for instagram! I’ll lose followers if I post up a shitty photo. It’s better to have nothing.

Don’t expect to start a blog and be able to earn money right away

For myself – I had to work quite awhile before my work and blog was commercially viable. You need to have something to offer a brand that they can’t get anywhere else – and that should take some time! Success doesn’t happen overnight in this industry. The important thing is to just get started and keep learning.

3)

Chriselle Lim blogger of The Chriselle Factor started her blog with the idea of making a business and she’s reached her goal . She’s one of the top fashion blogger, she attended Golden Globes and her blog and photos are truly amazing . She  shares her tips on how to start a blog and these 3 are my favorites :

Find Your Passion

Discover what you’re passionate about. Instead of starting a blog about something you think would get big or just because, focus instead on basing it around your interests. Blogging should start from the heart, not from the desire to make money. Back when I started my blog, no one was making money. That’s why so many bloggers blew up- they were doing it because they loved it, not for the money. Things have changed now, but you don’t need a business plan to start a blog. Blog about what you love and what you’re passionate about. Readers pick up on authenticity and they will keep coming back for more. Don’t do it for the money because through hard work and authenticity, the money will come eventually!

Stick to a Schedule

Starting a blog might be difficult initially if you’re not doing it full-time. I think one of the biggest misconception to starting a blog is the pressure to have to post every day. But be realistic about your schedule and stick to it! If you have a full time job, know what you can do and don’t over commit. Being consistent is just as important as the content itself! If you can only update once a week, make sure you at least update once a week. When I first started, I used to just post whenever I had time or whenever an idea for a blog post came to mind. But obviously as the blog grew, I had to start planning my post content more, and creating a calendar to stick to. Especially now because I have Chloe, I need to know how my week is going to look like in advance. Since I work from home twice a week, 3 days out of the week are my shoot days and the days where I write and edit my content. It was really after I got a system down that I began to update the blog every day. Every morning from Monday-Friday, I post a new post on the blog at 6am.  The key is consistency so your readers know what to expect!

Growing and Expanding

When I first started out, I would ask my friends and family to like and to share my posts. It might seem so obvious, but start with people you know! Ask your friends and family to share your blog or YouTube channel. Believe it or not, I used to ask my little cousins to share my YouTube channel with their friends! Don’t underestimate the power of your own personal network. If you take care of the people around you, that network will expand and multiply! And down the line, if you want to grow and get attention from brands, the best advice I can give you is to create quality content. Nowadays, brands will re-tweet and re-gram quality photos. If you want attention from a certain brand, intentionally tag them to get noticed! Never doubt the power of the hashtag! Hashtagging #OOTD (outfit of the day) or #LOTD (look of the day) can help generate likes, and certain accounts’ attention. And again, it’s all about being consistent and persistent!
