After a long and exhausting research, you have finally found the perfect job for you (by the way, we just launched a job research service, so we can help you to find the best job offers around there based on your preferences) so it’s time to apply for that position and get your fashion job.

In this post, we explained how to create a CV that works with fashion companies, and I’ve also just launched a new Cv review service to help you create your best CV ever and the most effective one, so if you’re applying to new fashion jobs, let me check your CV first and I’ll send you my notes and feedback, you’ll get also a FREE professional fashion-approved template and a draft of your new CV by us.

Once you have your CV nice and ready, it is time to send it to the company to apply for that position, but wait a moment before submitting.

These are the 5 things you absolutely must check before submitting your CV to a Fashion Company.

1.Only PDF format

Whether you write your CV using Microsoft Word, Pages or you design it with Photoshop, be sure to save the final version in PDF format. Never send a doc, image, powerpoint presentation or a .psd file to the company.

2.Add the Cover Letter

The Cover Letter is essential, is your introduction to the company, explains your motivations to work for them and adds details of you that are not on your CV. It is your chance to make sure that your CV will be read. You don’t have to create another document to attach to the email with the cover letter but write 4-5 lines in the body of the email. You have to excite curiosity in the person who receive the emails so that he reads your CV and calls you for the interview.

3.Check for typos

Many times when we write we do not realize the typos we made. That’s why I suggest you reread the CV at least one hour after finishing it, so you have a fresh mind to notice any typos. It’s even better if you can get your resume to read from someone else who has a different eye like your mother, sister or friend. When we reread what we have written, we tend to do it quickly and superficially because we already know the contents, while an external eye that reads it for the first time, notices everything. Also, make sure you have used the same font and size for the whole CV. If you used Aria 12 for the title and 9 for the description, then all of your experiences should have this consistent character.

4.Make sure it is up to date

Do not send a CV you prepared a month ago without giving it another look. Remember to add all your new work experiences.

5.One CV doesn’t fit everyone

Although you are tempted to apply for multiple job positions using the same CV, one of the golden rules for a successful CV is not to use a single CV for all companies. A catch is to incorporate the Job Description of the current position for which you are applying, within your previous experiences. So, if for example, you are applying as a Buyer and in the Job Description it says that you will have to deal with market analysis, add this activity in the description of your previous work experiences. So before sending your CV, make sure it is in line with the position you are applying for at the time.
