With so many different fashion schools all over the world, it’s very difficult to find the right fit for you. All schools offer different programs with majors in fashion design or fashion business, and the courses taught differ from school to school.

To help you with your choice of fashion school, we decided to interview some current and former student to give you all of the insider’s information.

The first school we will talk about is Mod’Art International, based in Paris, France. Next to the fact that this school is located close to the Eiffel Tower, the school offers complete courses in both fashion design and fashion business. Short 2-week summer courses are also available, which is perfect for the girls amongst us that are already working.

You can follow a 4 to 5 year bachelor and master graduate as well as just join for a year to obtain a master or an MBA.

Classes are taught in French or English, and about 35% of the students are foreigners, which brings a lot of different cultures to the school.

“Mod’Art was a nice experience to meet people from all over the world. The class I was in, was combined with French speakers and it was a good opportunity to work in groups and learn about each other’s countries.”Said an English student, set to graduate this year.

A school with a personal approach

From all the fashion schools in Paris, Mod’Art International is probably the smallest one where there is a more personal approach. One of the former students said:

“There were 2 groups with about 25 students in each class when I joined the Fashion business class in the 1styear. I loved this because everything is just so much more personal than when you’re 100 students per class.”

The teachers are all professionals that take the time to come and speak about their profession and experiences. The school also educated their students on every different kind of job in fashion by offering different courses every semester. You’ll learn about production, buying, designer, fashion law, human resources, PR and many more. They want you to know all possible roads you can take after graduating the school.

A school that thinks about your future

The semesters are quite busy and classes are from morning to evening, 5 days a week with exams twice a year. One of the reasons for the busy schedule is that fact that students complete about 5 internships throughout the entire program, ranging from 1 month to 6 months. Another former student, from Belgium, explained us the following:

“The main reason why I choose Mod’Art International, besides that it’s a really good school, is that I would graduate with actual experiences in the fashion industry. This also the perfect opportunity to gain knowledge about different fields and determine what area in fashion I eventually wanted to work in.”

Mod’Art has a lot of contacts in the fashion industry, which makes it easier as a student to get great internships and even contacts for a job when you graduate. They are a well respected school in the fashion industry, which often leads to brand and companies asking Mod’Art to send them dome candidates for available internships.

Many of their alumni are now working for major brand such as Céline, Saint Laurent, Versace, Givenchy, Chanel and many more. They also help you to create a good resume, teach you to write perfect cover letters and help you with mock interview sessions.

A school that thinks on an International level

As mentioned earlier, about 35% of the student are foreigners, which results in the courses being taught in French or English, depending on the students. English and Italian, two very important languages in the fashion industry are also taught and students have to take a language tests at the end of each year to determine their level.

In the 3rd and 4th year you have the possibility to go abroad for exchange to one of the 30 partners from Mod’Art, some destinations are New York, London, Milan, Macau, India, Australia, Canada, San Francisco and many more. It gives students the opportunity to follow courses at a school with a different emphasis on the fashion industry, as well as discover different parts of the world and their cultures.

“What I loved the most about Mod’Art International Paris, is the possibility to go abroad in the 3rdand 4thyear of the Fashion Business program. I chose to go to Macau and Milano, which were both amazing opportunities. In Macau I studied at a regular Business School, while in Milan I followed more creative courses on ‘Made In Italy’ and a focus on Italian designers in general.”: said one of the interviewed former students.
